About

The Commerce Department is one of the largest departments in the Institution providing quality education since 1993. It offers B.Com (Gen) and B.Com (Comp) with a present intake of 500 plus students. The department is driven by considerations of quality, well qualified and committed faculty and is ever-ready to design innovative instructional methodology. To equip the students with practical and analytical skills, Commerce Lab has been incepted in 2005. The ‘SPOORTHY’ club of the Commerce Department engages the students in various academic and cognitive activities like Seminars, Group Discussions, Debates, Role Play sessions, Case Study Analysis, Quiz, and Skit both at the intra and inter-collegiate level. Students are taken on field trips and industrial tours. Entrepreneurship Awareness and Development programmes are arranged in collaboration with external agencies. Many students are recruited through the campus placements and placed in reputed organizations like DELL, HSBC, Bank of America, WIPRO, Cognizant, Infosys, etc.. The department has the distinction of securing above 90% pass percentage consistently from its inception and is always ranked among the top 10 affiliated colleges of Osmania University.

    • March 19th 2021: Spoorthy Club - Department of Commerce, organised “Role Play” for B.Com first year students, in Henry Fayol’s “14 Principles of Management”. The Event was conducted in the Auditorium. About 195 students attended the Event. Orientation about the Spoorthy Club was given by Mrs. MadhaviLatha to the students at the beginning of the Programme. In total 14 Teams of 4 from each team participated in the competition.
    • 26th April, 2019: As a part of Spoorthy Club Activity – Prizes were given for the class toppers, Model making, Posture presentation for all B.com Students.
    • The department of Commerce had taken an initiative to start a club by name SPOORTHY in the year 2005. The idea behind starting a commerce students association ‘Spoorthy’ is to encourage the leadership qualities and managerial skills of students by giving them an opportunity to organize various academic, socio-cultural activities and programs and inter-collegiate competitions.
    • The Spoorthy Club of the department organizes Inter collegiate competitions, under the banner ‘STORM’ (Spoorthy Talent Oriented Rocking Meet). The main objective of this event is to promote the talent and skills of students in various fields and also to provide them an opportunity to interact with their counterparts from other colleges. Various competitions like Group Discussion, Poster Presentation, Case Study, Turn Coat, Dramatics, and Fun Game like Commerce Bingo, Tambola etc., are designed to test the presentation, analytical, creative and communication skills of students.
    • The department organizes Seminars, Group Discussions, Debates, Role Play sessions, Case Study Analysis, Quiz, and skits on a regular basis as a part of the club activity.
