SGPA & CGPA
As part of Choice-based Credit System (CBCS), Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) has been implemented from the academic year 2023- 24. As per the Osmania University grading system, the grade letter is a measure of a student's performance in a particular course (Paper). It is the conversion of the actual grades a student received for a course or paper. A Grade letter of O, A, B, C, D, E, or F represents it. Each Grade Letter has a range of grades. If a student misses an exam, the grade letter Ab is substituted in the memo for the grade letter. According to the grading system grades are given in a course or paper, and Grade Point gives each grade letter a certain amount of weight.
AWARD OF GRADES UNDER CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS)
Grade | % Marks Range | Grade Point |
---|---|---|
O | 85 - 100 | 10 |
A | 70 to <85 | 9 |
B | 60 to <70 | 8 |
C | 55 to <60 | 7 |
D | 50 to <55 | 6 |
E | 40 to <50 | 5 |
F | <40 | 4 |
CALCULATION OF SGPA & CGPA
1 | Credit Points = No. of Credits Secured × Grade Points obtained in a given paper |
2 | SGPA = Sum of Credit Points obtained in a semester ÷ Total number of credits in that semester |
3 | CGPA = Sum of Credit Points obtained in all semesters ÷ Total number of credits |
Pass Criteria (all first three conditions satisfied)
Calculation of Percentage
Percentage of Marks = ( CGPA + Conversion Factor) X 10
