About

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1993 with the combination of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (M.P.C)

  • In 1994 Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science (M.P.Cs) combination was introduced.
  • Statistics was added in the year 2000 - 2001 with combination of Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science (M.S.Cs )
  • In 2015 M.Sc (Pure Mathematics) was introduced.
  • Now the strength of Mathematics students is around 524.
  • The Faculty of Mathematics are well qualified and experienced lectures in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching.

Objectives

Objectives of our Department are as follows:

  • Departmental Programs are focused on the spectrum where brilliants are given scope and the average students are encouraged.
  • Reaching out to the needy and the less privileged has always been the aspiration of the department.
  • Motivation is the key for the department.
  • Persistent efforts are being made for the placement of the students.
  • Department is a versatile department, it not only trains the students with mathematics as an optional subject but also renders its services to other departments.

  • The Dept of Mathematics has arranged a Guest Lecture on Differential Calculus (Maxima and Minima) by Asst.Prof Mrs. Surya Vardhini(P.hd) from St.Francis College For Women, Begumpet on 22-10-2022
  • The Dept of Mathematics has arranged an Online Guest Lecture on “Real Analysis” by Associate. Prof Mrs. Dr. Shalini from Nirmala College For Women, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu on 05-11-2022

  • The Dept of Mathematics has arranged a Capacity Building Programme on Confidence is Beauty by Speaker SU.Sambamurthy ,M.Sc (psychology), MSC(yoga),PG Diploma on 21-11-2022.

Field trip:

  • The Department of Mathematics has Organised a field trip to Adventure Core and Birla Planetorium on 19-11-2022 for II PG and II B.Sc students

Sigma club

  • The Department of Mathematics have celebrated the 135TH birth anniversary of Sri Srinivasa Ramanujan on ‘National Mathematics Day’ dated 22-12-2022 in the conference hall at 12.30 pm. He is a famous Indian Mathematician who contributed many works to the country
  • The Department of Mathematics has conducted a ‘Sigma Club Activity’ on 19-09-2022 for II & III B.Sc students
  • The Department of Mathematics conducted club activity for 2nd PG students on 17th September.various games and activities were conducted for them
  • The department organised club activity on 10th September, 2018. Under this club activity, the department conducted different events like Spontaneous acting, Quiz and memory game for UG students.
  • The department organised sigma club activity on 30th August, 2018. Under this club activity, the department conducted games like QUIZ, DUMB CHARADES, JUMBLED WORDS for PG students.
  • Department conducts various events like quiz, Paper Presentation and Poster presentations etc.
